The funding level is at the minimum monthly stipend set by the Graduate School. Application must be made to seek this funding including the candidate’s name, degree being sought, anticipated graduation date, name and signature of primary advisor, department head/chair and dean from program of study, description of how funding will be used over the summer including expected deliverables.  A statement must be made describing that alternative summer support is not available and describe how support was provided previously and will be in the future.  Note, funding for these scholarships is limited and will be competitive.  Applications must be submitted to the Graduate School by April 1 with a decision made by April 15. The student must register for 3 credit hours and tuition cost for this will be covered in the award.  Students may register for more than 3 credits, but this tuition cost will not be covered. At the end of the summer, the student will be expected to submit a brief (one page or less) progress report to the Graduate School (pkoski@uark.edu).

Bridge funding

For Doctoral / MFA students in their final year of study (i.e., dissertation year) in the event that funding has run out.  Application must be made to seek this funding including the candidate’s name, degree being sought, start date, expected end date (to be within one year from request of bridge funding), name and signature of primary advisor, department head and dean from program of study, description of how funding was provided previously and why additional funding is not available.  Note, faculty RIF is considered to be a valid source of graduate student funding.  A statement must be made describing that adequate progress has been made with an expectation of completion or end date, and a list of objectives to be achieved during the year, with a timeline, must be submitted. List monthly stipend, number of semesters of additional funding being requested (not to exceed three), and remaining credits needed toward degree. It is expected that this time will be devoted entirely to finishing the dissertation or MFA thesis. Applications must be submitted to the Graduate School by October 1 for the spring semester, February 1 for the summer semester, and May 1 for the fall semester.  It is anticipated that 5 competitive scholarships will be available on an annual basis. At the end of the year of funding, the student will be expected to submit (to pkoski@uark.edu) a brief (one page or less) report on the progress made on the milestones described in the application.
