Lead grassroots efforts to fight hunger in a changing world. Agricultural Volunteers work with small-scale farmers and families to increase food security and production and adapt to climate change while promoting environmental conservation practices. They introduce farmers to techniques that prevent soil erosion, reduce the use of harmful pesticides, and replenish the soil. They work alongside farmers on integrated projects that often combine vegetable gardening, livestock management, agroforestry, and nutrition education.

If you choose Agriculture, take 3 courses (9credit hours) from one of the following areas:

Build 50 hours of related field experience through an activity such as:

  • Completing an approved internship in the areas of agriculture or agricultural sciences outreach, and communication
  • Complete an approved supervised classroom teaching program as required by your degree program
  • Demonstrate work experience on a production agriculture farm
  • Demonstrate work experience on a retail-market farm
  • Serve as an Agricultural Ambassador for the Bumpers College
  • Participate in an agricultural-focused study abroad experience
  • Volunteer at a veterinary clinic
  • Volunteer at a Farmers Market
  • Other related activity coordinated by the Volunteer Action Center and approved in advance by the PCP Program coordinator/advisor

The applicant must provide verifiable evidence of this activity. This may include a Service Transcript from the Volunteer Action Center or from the agency where the volunteer action occurred.
