Spring Graduation Checklist

Spring 2020

  • Apply to graduate by March 1st via your student center in UA Connect under “My Academics.” The graduation fee will be added to your student account. After the deadline, there is a $25 late application fee for ALL students.
  • Consult your Degree Audit to confirm that you have completed all degree requirements. Remind your advisor/committee chair that a Record of Progress must be submitted to the Graduate School and your Degree Audit must be completed by the department.
  • Complete all degree requirements (comprehensive exams, incompletes, projects, etc.) no later than May 7th. This does not include theses/dissertations which are due no later than May 1st.
  • Schedule your thesis/dissertation defense as early as possible to avoid delays with scheduling all committee members. We recommend defending your thesis/dissertation at least TWO WEEKS prior to the submission deadline to allow enough time for required revisions.
  • If you are a master’s thesis or doctoral student, format your paper according to the Thesis and Dissertation Guide.
  • Send an electronic copy of your thesis/dissertation to the Graduate School (gradtad@uark.edu) for a formatting pre-check prior to defending and preferably at least TWO WEEKS prior to the final submission deadline of Friday, May 1st.   • During The COVID-19 Social Distancing Directive

    Modifications to Thesis/Dissertation submission process are as follows:

    • After your remote defense,
      • Complete and sign your submission forms. If you cannot sign, email Dr. Koski permission to sign for you
      • Forward the forms to your committee members.
        • Committee members can:
          • Email Dr. Koski to request that she sign on their behalf.
          • E-sign using Adobe sign. Sign original document and forward to the next person for signature. Because others will need to sign the PDF after you, don’t select the Lock document after signing option in the Sign As dialog box or the Sign Document dialog box.
        • The form(s) can be sent to us electronically, but must come from the Committee Chair, Department Chair, or Graduate Coordinator, from their university account.
        • Upon receipt of the entire package we will send the upload instructions to you

    Please note: Our procedures are constantly being updated and adjusted. Final instructions will be given at the time you submit your final paper to us.

  • Spring commencement ceremonies have been postponed. This applies to the ceremonies only. All other Deadlines for the graduation process are valid.

Remember

  • The graduation office is located in Gearhart Hall 207/208 or 575-4401
  • Make sure you submitted title & committee forms to the Grad School
  • Review the latest Thesis and Dissertation Guide
  • Degrees are posted to transcripts 4-6 weeks after graduation date
  • Diplomas are mailed by the Registrar’s Office approximately 8-10 weeks after graduation date
