  1. Minutes from the September 21, 2023, meeting stand approved since no corrections were suggested.

    The Rise program started today.

  3. Dean's Report

    The DDF Panel is used as leverage to get students to apply to programs, and we have resources to spend. The Graduate School projects a dollar amount for the year, and we have funds left for the spring.

  4. New Business – Program Changes

    College of Education and Health Professions (Attachment A)

    1. Program Change Request: EDSTMC: Educational Statistics and Research Methods Post Master’s Certificate
    2. Changing GPA requirement of 3.4 to required that a B or higher is required in courses to earn credit. To add requirement of a B or higher in the certificate classes to be consistent with requirements in program. (Presented by Wen-Juo Lo) (Motion approved.)

    3. Program Change Request: EXSCMS: Exercise Science, Master of Science
    4. Moving from a 33-hour to a 30-hour requirement for degree. Removed research requirement for non-thesis majors. Changed name of 4+1 to Accelerated. (Presented by Amanda Lynn Sullivan) (After discussion, motion approved.)

    5. Program Change Request: PBHLMPH: Public Health, Master of Public Health
    6. An accelerated program was created for the PBHL-MPH program. The accelerated program will enable the HHPR department to attract and retain high achieving undergraduates at the UA and produce a more streamlined pipeline to the PBHL-MPH program. Removed WES requirement. Per discussions with the programs this was found to not be necessary. (Presented by Amanda Lynn Sullivan) (After discussion of accelerated hours and program, motion approved.)

    Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences (Attachment A)

    1. Program Change Request: PADMMP: Public Administration and Nonprofit Studies, Master of Public Administration
    2. The program admission requirements no longer include the submission of GRE scores. The PLSC faculty unanimously agreed to remove the GRE score submission requirement for our graduate programs. This decision was made after careful consideration of various factors that affect the selection process of our students and the fairness of the admission process. (Presented by David McNabb) (Motion approved.)

    Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design (Attachment A)

    1. New Program Proposal: DSGNMDS-PRES: Design Studies: Preservation Design Concentration
    2. Addition of new concentration to the existing of Master of Design Studies (M.Des.). (Presented by Ethel Sara Goodstein) (Motion approved.)

    3. Program Change Proposal: DSGNMDS-IWDS: Design Studies: Integrated Wood Design Concentration
    4. We cleaned up the course list table in the CIM block. The hours were not adding up correctly, so we made necessary edits for clarification. (Presented by Jennifer Webb) (Motion approved.)

    GSIE Interdisciplinary Programs

    1. New Program Proposal: STMDGM: Statistical Methods and Design Graduate MicroCertificate
    2. To establish a graduate micro certificate focused on the acquisition of knowledge and skill needed for fundamental understanding of statistical methods and design. This graduate micro certificate will assist in filling the void left by the now inactive STAN graduate certificate. The certificate is designed to allow for introductory knowledge acquisition that can lead to potential recruitment of students for the STAN MS degree. (Presented by Ed Bengtson) (After discussion, motion approved.)

  5. Consent Agenda Items
    1. Proposed course changes/additions/deactivations (Attachment B)
      1. Discussion of providing more information and asking for more clarification for submitted courses. These changes must meet accreditation standards.
      2. Discussion of ECON 5833 and ECON 5843. The syllabi passed the College committee. However, a motion was made to remove from the consent agenda. The Council rolled back for measurable course objectives and a grading scale. The remaining courses were approved.
    2. Graduate faculty recommendations for faculty and graduate assistants (Attachment C) – A motion made and approved.

    None
